What We Do

Faux Stone

Faux Stone is a cementitious coating that is meticulously hand-troweled onto surfaces to create a freshly-laid concrete appearance, complete with a delicate burnished texture. The term “faux” means “fake” or “imitation,” so faux stone flooring is essentially a replica of natural stone flooring. It provides an excellent alternative to tiles with its low maintenance requirements. While the primary colour is light grey, the finish can be customised to include a wide variety of colours to match individual preferences. With a personalised touch, it is possible to create decorative faux stone floors that are unique and artistic, tailored to one’s taste and style. Faux stone flooring is popular among homeowners on the Gold Coast because it is more affordable than natural stone flooring, easier to maintain, and more durable.

Why Choose Faux Stone?

Being a hand troweled cementitious coating or topping, faux stone can create a wide variety of effects on overlays. There is almost an infinite number of possibilities when it comes to the design. Depending your taste and style preferences, you can create marbled or cloud-like effects by playing with the textures and colours. Our faux stone application has a polyurethane coating so it is quick and easy to clean and maintain. It also has a high slip rating so it is safe for high-traffic areas.

Faux Stone flooring vs. tiling.

When it comes to flooring, both faux stone and tile are great options. However, there are some reasons why you might choose faux stone flooring over tiling.

Appearance: Faux stone flooring can offer a natural and rustic appearance that is difficult to achieve with tile. Faux stone can mimic the look of natural stone, such as granite, marble, or slate, and can add a unique and beautiful element to your space.

Durability: Faux stone flooring is generally more durable than tile. Faux stone is made from a variety of materials such as concrete, polyurethane, or PVC, which can withstand heavy foot traffic and resist scratches and stains. Tile, on the other hand, can crack or chip if heavy objects are dropped on it.

Maintenance: Faux stone flooring requires minimal maintenance, making it a great choice for busy households. It can be easily cleaned with a damp cloth or mop, and does not require sealing or re-grouting. Tile, on the other hand, can require more maintenance, such as regular re-grouting and sealing to prevent water damage.

Comfort: Faux stone flooring can provide a comfortable and warm surface underfoot. It can also help regulate the temperature in your space, keeping it cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, perfect for the Gold Coast climate. Tiles can be cold and uncomfortable to stand on, especially during the colder months.

Overall, faux stone flooring can be a great choice for those who want a durable, low-maintenance, and visually appealing flooring option. However, it is important to consider your specific needs and preferences when choosing between faux stone and tile for your flooring.

How Is Faux Stone Applied?

To begin with, we remove any debris from the concrete surface by grinding it back and opening it up for optimal adhesion. Next, we repair any cracks and restore expansion joints where necessary. A primer is applied, followed by 1-2 base coats as needed to achieve the desired faux stone appearance. To safeguard the coating, we conclude the process with 2 coats of polyurethane.
